What you need to know before moving to Canada, or another country.
If you are seriously considering a move out of the U.S. because of the U.S. political situation, there are "considerations" you may want to think about before leaving the U.S.
Information we will post:
- Links about immigrating - qualifications, and what to make sure you take with you, such as Travel Insurance, or universal travel insurance
- Links about obtaining new health insurance in a new country, and other "settling in" issues
- School information - if you have school -aged children or teens
- Job information - if you plan to work or open a business
You have at least three options ....
- Stay and "fight" - do volunteer work, remain active in creating change for the better. Consider running for office yourself.
- Leave - but go temporarily - be gone for up to four years and "see what happens" and whether you want to return
- Leave permanently
Be aware if you want to move to Canada, trucks are booking up fast, and so is storage space at the border - at least for the west coast. Vacancy rates are tight in major cities across Canada, due to the influx of Americans getting out. Vancouver, for example has been experiencing less a 1% vacancy rate. With a shortage of trucks, and storage, rates may go up. Canada has also added a "foreign buyer tax" on foreigners coming and buying Canadian property to slow down foreign owners buying up property.
There will be more information posted soon. Stay tuned.
