Adult Kids Warning: Spouses

Update: 5/14/14 - 11:30pm PST: Casey Kasem was located by the Court on 5/14/ 14. He was found in Washington State.

From ABC: "Casey Kasem has been found safe in Washington, law enforcement officials told ABC News, ending a frantic search for the missing radio DJ.

Sheriffs in Kitsap County, Wash. found Kasem, 82. Deputy Scott Wilson, the Sheriff's Office Public Information Officer, said officers found Kasem Wednesday at an address provided by California Adult Protective Services. His wife, Jean Kasem, was also there, Wilson said.

Wilson said Kasem is visiting on vacation - and that he is cognizant of his location.

"At this time, the Kitsap County Sheriff’s department does not believe this is a police issue," Wilson said in a statement.

"A judge ordered an investigation into Kasem’s whereabouts Monday, after an attorney for the ailing radio personality's wife said the former "Top 40" host had been removed from Los Angeles without his children's knowledge.

"Kasem suffers from Lewy body dementia, which causes a progressive decline in mental abilities. He has been in various medical facilities chosen by his wife.

"Kasem’s children say their stepmother had barred them from seeing their father."

The Casey Kasem last life chapter story has been escalated once again. Casey Kasem, age 82, once the Countdown King of the Top 100 in the radio music world,  is now missing! Kasem, once thought to have Parkinson's disease, has Lewy body disease -- a common cause of dementia. He was pulled out of a medical facility in Santa Monica, May 6,  and whisked away at night, allegedly by his present wife. The court had taken away her rights the same day.

His story is a "keep your eyes wide open" warning to adult children: Get it clear with your beloved parent "who is their Medical Power of Attorney / Medical Representative".

Examples of "Red Flags":

1. Estranged or quarreling spouses: If parents do not get along, and one wants a divorce and the other doesn't. The other spouse probably should not be the Medical Power of Attorney for the other any longer.

2. Difficult Step-Parents: When there are numerous witnesses that a step-parent is trying to block the adult children from seeing their parent, likely someone other than the step-parent / later spouse should be the Medical Power of Attorney.

3. "Vulture" Watch: If "vultures"/ outsiders (not blood relatives)  are hovering close-by hoping to financially gain through the relationship / friendship with your parent, beware the or they may try to take Medical Power of Attorney away from adult children.

4. Court Appointed Conservator / Guardian / Committee:  When a family of siblings are not in agreement and the parent can't make their own decision, it may be wise to let the court appoint a Medical Conservator / Guardian/ Committee. It's not "free", but it might be in your parents best interest.

Here is the Latest Horrific Event in (Probably)Terminally Ill Casey Kasem's Life  - Apparently He's Been Kidnapped:

Casey Kasem's adult children do not get on well with his present wife, Jean Kasem. She "did not appear in court on May 12, but in November, she and her attorney filed a statement saying, "These children falsely claim that their stepmother is wicked and is keeping her husband prisoner.... For reasons they know all too well, their presence at this stage would be toxic and extremely distressing for Casey, Jean and their daughter, Liberty, who have had enough of their cruelty." (IBID)

The adult children hadn't seen their father recently; his wife had blocked visits. TMZ had tipped off Julie Kasem, where her father was living, when he arrived at the medical facility in February 2014.

The adult children were able to finally see their father May 6, a week ago,  and it went well. That same night, allegedly Jean Kasem came to the facility and checked Casey Kasem out, then took him out of country - which in this case may only be to an Indian Reservation located in North America. (Indian / First Nations reservations are separate nations and not part of the U.S. or Canada.)

Tuesday, May 12,  the Court ruled giving Casey Kasem's daughter Conservator status over her father.

Kerri and Julie Kasem will be on CNN tonight (May 13)  at 6pm being interviewed in hopes of generating leads to find their father.
