Upcoming New Releases:

Desk Reference: "Caregiver through Executor: Know BEFORE  You Go" - Caesi Bevis, MBA

Have you received "the call" - yet? Someone in your family, or a close dear friend needs you NOW because they have had a crisis...or perhaps you received "the call" because someone in your family, or a dear friend has passed on / died / "translated". Whatever you want to name "the call" not many ever learn "what to do next" - it's sort of assumed you will "just figure it out when the time comes". But - how do you figure it out without a) losing your job or career, b) becoming financially unstable yourself, c) taking away so much time from your family - your spouse, significant other, or kids...that they hardly know the "new you" who is so overwhelmed, upset,  and stressed out from so many sleepless nights - or irregular time schedule  that you are one jangled nerve away from being extremely rude, to throwing things, or having a total melt down?

No longer does this "trial by fire" life-changing event or series of events have to be a "figure it out when the time comes". In my book "Caregiver through Executor: Know BEFORE You Go"  - I am giving you what I SO DESPERATELY NEEDED when I got "the call" - three times - once for my mother, twice for my father. I lost so much time tracking down information that "should have been" easy to find, but wasn't.

As a research writer,  investigator, community trainer and speaker, my instincts were "I need to save this information now that I have found it. I can make someone else's journey so much easier." Many days, because things happened so fast and days were so long, this meant writing on envelopes, scraps of paper, making notes on my smart phone, and when times were calmer transferring notes over to my notebinder, or at least getting notes into a zippered pouch for safe-keeping. I'm an organized person, but when calls come in on top of calls, reality of being organized in a pretty way  - sometimes just getting notes down and keeping them has to 'do'.  I had to find an easier way for other people to do this. I was out of state from my mother in 1987, and came back and did what I could do. She died. I couldn't get things done fast enough. I needed information in advance I didn't have. I have "survivor's guilt". With my estranged father in 2008, I got "the call" while living out of country. I didn't want to come back. But I was "the only one" - I was the only child. He had two deceased wives. His sibling family had abandoned him 'for cause'. Yet, even the family members we don't like...you still get "the call". (In my father's case, advancing years and a perceptive doctor figured out a medication that balanced him out and he was given the gift of life to be a nicer person. By the time he died at 93, I was glad I had helped him and got a glimpse of the man he was supposed to have been the first 72 years.)

My Mission is to make your job easier, faster, less expensive when you get "the call". You deserve that. Most Caregivers provide care 3-5 years...even if you aren't caring for your person in your home, you are caring in your heart - phone calls, record keeping, perhaps power of attorney responsibilities or taking on court appointed guardianship. The more you know in advance, the more likely you won't lose your job, you career, your business (if you are self-employed, like I was), and you will be able to better protect your own finances, and health.

This is a topic, let's face it, it's depressing, and a complex topic. Think of it like "having a baby: you prepare". If you prepare for the beginning of life - why not the end of life?

My book, my research with government offices, healthcare facilities, skilled nursing care, veteran's affairs about benefits, government and private loan and grant programs,  is my gift to you. As I find out new information, I will pass it on to you. As information changes, it will be updated on my website, and/ or changed for upcoming editions.

"Caregiver through Executor: Know BEFORE You Go!" is a Program. It's designed for anyone who may get "the call", and it is especially designed for anyone living out of state or province, or country, who has family in the U.S. or Canada. I believe my book and program should be a "required course" in the senior year of high school, and if not then, in first year college and university. In the past year, I have met three young adults - 19- 22 years old who either recently had a single parent die and they were an only child, or they were the child of a single parent who died when they were still in high school.

Likewise, many times one or the other spouses tracks assets and insurance information and may not tell the other "where things are". Years ago, a widow named Lynn Cane wrote a book called "Widow". Her husband, a lawyer, died tragically in his early 30s leaving her with three or four kids, and she didn't know where any papers were or what they had. It turned out as I recall, he didn't have life insurance, so in reality all he left her with was debt.

Seniors many times don't know how to access additional benefits, or veteran's benefits for widowed spouses.

That's just the paperwork, assets, and insurance side. My book covers health issues, too, such as all the different "definitions" of "disabled".

My mother's caregiving and estate issues were simple. My father's were more complex as time went on, and other than leaving a house with structural problems and no life insurance and debts, it is still fairly simple.

While I will share what I went through, my book is about meeting YOUR needs.

My "expertise" to write this book comes from my professional skills as a researcher/ writer and investigator. My "gift" in this lifetime is "I am a Codifier". I see vasts amounts of random information, and see how it can be put together into an easier system to follow, so others have an easier experience.

In all, my book runs about 600 - 700 pages, it is in final editing right now. It is a Desk Reference - which means check the Table of Contents or Index and find what you need: sample forms, sample letters, address and phone numbers, what questions to ask, what information to track, etc.

I'm here to serve you at this point. Use my investigation and research skills  - I am answering questions and will answer questions that keep coming up, or that I think will help others, too.

"You [Caesi Bevis] did some tremendous work here [in British Columbia, Canada]!!!

"You were innovative, and started it just at the right time! Not every one uses their lives for the good of others, but you certainly do!!! Valuable help, support and knowledge, helps make a real difference in peoples lives. Thank you, for being YOU!!!

"In the time I have known Caesi Bevis, when she was case managing for us (I live out of state and my adult children and ex husband have disabilities), she rescued my ex-husband from homelessness, helped him gain access to medical care and assessment, got him back on his medicine for paranoid schizophrenia, and found him a suitable place to live. She also became a caregiver and "guardian angel" as my son, with disabilities, had called her, protecting his interests when he had a medical crisis overlapping his father's crisis. She took on what my daughter and I could not. Here's what she did for us: Arranging and coordinating a move, housing for my ex, navigating healthcare systems, hunting for my ex when he went missing and later was 'patient dumped' by the hospital, helped with missing person police filings, emotional support for my son, supported me through two back-to-back hospital ER emergencies with my ex, sourced two assisted living places for my ex, helped with hospital and state complaint filings, and transportation support for my son to get to work."

"When my wife died fairly suddenly, her family treated me more like we were 'divorced.' Suddenly, I had no blood family at all. I was on my own in a new state and city, and needing to access help. I have permanent disabilities and my wife was not only our wage earner, she was my caregiver and helped me stay on top of medical appointments and getting medical supplies, and such. Now I had no one. I even had less than no one...our family pet had also died recently. I was on my own with no disability check, and no help. Caesi was able to reach people in my state, obtain names and numbers of who I needed to talk to, and help me reach churches in my area who could help me with donations until I could get disability benefits. This was the scariest time I went through. I was surprised that my closest family - my wife's family refused to help, yet here was someone 3,000 miles away who jumped in and did.

"Where was this program when I needed it five years ago...? Taking on my parent's needs after an emergency was a nightmare! Torn between loving my mother, and being available for my family...the time it took to help my mother kept escalating. I was frantic trying to juggle work, family, and my mother...lost so much sleep. I would call government offices and be on hold for an eternity, only to get disconnected. Or, would call on her bills, only to find out without a power of attorney document faxed in, they would not talk to me. Or, trying to reach people in social / community services took forever to find out what I could get for her. We live in another state. It was a mess.

Your program is SO necessary.

Mother, Caregiver and Support to Three – Expat

"I work out of country from where my disabled brother and mom are. You have no idea how hard it is to get things done long distance and out of country until you try to do it. It's not fast. It's not easy. You lose a lot of time by phone trying to reach someone who can just get something done for you. Everyone wants you to just jump on a plane and come there. But, I'm sorry, I have responsibilities here to my family - my husband, my kids, my life. I can't just jump on a plane and go there every time something comes up.

I'm glad Caesi started Crisis Coaching. This work is her life. She is committed to changing things. She's committed to making things a lot easier for people who have to do things long distance or from out of country.
